Oral Surgery

Oral surgery can be used to treat different dental issues. At Langley Dental, we perform the following for our patients:

Extractions

An extraction is simply the removal of a tooth. When a tooth is cracked, broken, chipped, or decayed, an extraction may be necessary. Extractions are generally recommended after every other treatment option has been considered. At Langley Dental, we will always try to restore and repair your teeth first – but unfortunately there are times when the tooth is beyond saving and must be extracted.

All of the extractions performed at Langley Dental are safe and involve great care. Before extracting a tooth, Dr. Forsyth will take digital images of the tooth to see the position of the roots, the surrounding bone, and the overall structure. We will determine the exact plan for extracting the tooth, and decide on a sedation option to make the procedure totally pain-free.

Reasons for Extraction

Some reasons you may need to have a tooth extracted include:

  • The tooth is damaged beyond repair

  • There is an infection that cannot be fixed by root canal or bone grafting

  • The tooth is blocking other teeth from coming in (often these are either extra teeth or baby teeth that have not fallen out)

  • The tooth is crowding the others

  • Your wisdom teeth have decayed or become infected

Dr. Forsyth is an expert at tooth extractions, and we are committed to making it a comfortable and simple process. For more information about tooth extractions, feel free to contact us.

Bone Grafting

If you require a bone grafting procedure, Langley Dental is happy to coordinate with an oral surgeon to provide you with the best possible service, as we no longer provide grafting in-house.
